How to help the Three-Year Retreat at Diamond Mountain
Here are five key ways you can help:
1. Volunteer
We welcome your help in the Diamond Mountain retreat valley. Come spend some time as a volunteer building adobe, earth-bag, conventional and straw bale cottages. You'll find we have plenty of opportunities, both skilled and unskilled, where you can share your enthusiasm and effort.
Volunteer for a few days, a few weeks, or a few months. While you're here, you'll be able to join our on-going study and yoga classes, all of which are always offered for free. To contact our Volunteer Coordinator for more information and answers to your questions simply fill out our contact form.
2. Throw a fundraiser
Raising money for the Three-Year Retreat is fun.
So far fundraising events have included:
- Dinner parties with friends. Invite friends for a $$ per seat dinner gathering to raise donations.
- Yoga-thons. Take pledges for number of sun salutations.
- Fashion Shows. Men and women model their favorite outfits and put them up for auction.
- Hosting free teachings with any donations going to support the Three-Year Retreat.
- Offering special services. Paintings have been created and sold; Yoga private instruction classes offered; Acupuncture Therapists have provided sessions; guitar lessons provided—all with proceeds going to the Three-Year Retreat.
- Special Offers. Like music you've created, clothes you've designed, or other products you've created. Stores and brands can also offer special offers with proceeds going to the Three-Year Retreat for Peace.
- Clear out the clutter sale. It feels good to get rid of things you no longer use and better to sell it for a good purpose. Put up things you no longer need on eBay or Craigslist or even have and old-fashioned yard sale.
Be creative and let us know about your efforts. Please fill out our contact form if you have with announcements, ideas, or questions.
3. Donate
Diamond Mountain is a 501(c)(3) organization under IRS regulations. Your contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
Donations will be used to build retreat cabins that will remain property of Diamond Mountain University for future generations to use for silent retreat. And pay for retreat expenses including food, water, and maintenance during the retreat.
You can donate to the general retreat or to a specific cabin that a particular retreatant intends to occupy.
4. Offer skilled labor at reduced prices
We know getting skilled labor to an isolated retreat valley in the Chiricahua Mountains of Arizona can be a difficult task. We are willing to pay for skilled labor at reduced prices to help build retreat cabins that meet the required Arizona building code (2003 International Residential Code).
While we are blessed with some skilled labor, more is needed in all areas of building:
- Contractors
- Carpenters
- Cement Masons
- Concrete Finishers
- Drywallers
- Electricians
- Plumbers
Hourly rates for this non-profit project are typically 75% of normal market rates.
Please fill out our contact form to offer assistance at reduced prices.
5. Spread the word. Tell others about the Three-Year Retreat at Diamond Mountain.
We hope this Three-Year Retreat will inspire others to think about the happiness of everyone in the world in each activity they undertake.
Bringing attention on the Three-Year Retreat also can aid fundraising which will allow more retreatants to participate.
Please use your Internet skills to spread the word on Facebook, Twitter, and your blogs.
